Boundaries: The lines you draw that teach people how far they can push a situation before you will no longer take it. You know when your personal boundaries have been violated, trust your feelings and communicate them.

Matriarch: The aim is not to have power over others and over nature, but to follow maternal values, i.e. to nurture the natural, social and cultural life based on mutual respect, more here.

Language is powerful.  It gives us the ability to express ourselves and name our experiences.  Language is important to The SelfCare After Series because we believe in the power of naming and identifying the things and behaviors that impede on our mental and emotional safety.

Culture: The patterns of daily life learned consciously and unconsciously by a group of people. These patterns can be seen in language, arts, customs, governing practices, holiday celebration, food, dating rituals, gestures, relationships to authority, aesthetic and more.

Sexism: prejudice and/or discrimination against people based on their real or perceived sex. Sexism is based on the belief (conscious or unconscious) that there is a natural order based on sex. 

Bias: An inclination or preference either for or against an individual or group that interferes with impartial judgement.

Heterosexism: Prejudice and/or discrimination, either personal or institutional, against people who are or are perceived to be lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender. 

Anti Bias: Active commitment to challenging all forms of discrimination. 



Fuhk Boi : Someone who doesn't give you the respect afforded basic human beings but still expect to get laid.

Gaslighting:  A specific type of manipulation and form of psychological abuse used by narcissists where they withhold factual information from the victim, and replacing it with false information in order to instill in their victim’s an extreme sense of anxiety and confusion to the point where they no longer trust their own memory, the impact tends to be gradual and destroys the mental stability of a victim. It can drive you crazy.

Silencing: Silencing is a type of verbal harassment or intimidation intended to distract, minimize, or discourage you from speaking out. The ultimate goal is to control the larger conversation by ensuring that not all voices are heard or are able to speak.

Victim Blaming: Holding the victim of a act responsible for the act occurring instead of holding the person who committed the act accountable.

Misogyny: Dislike of, disdain, or ingrained prejudice against women. Feeling women are beneath men. 

Stereotype: An oversimplified generalization about a person or group of people without regard for individual differences. Even seemingly positive stereotypes that link a person or group to a specific positive trait can have negative consequences.
